Dear Alli Grace,
You touch my heart in ways you will never know. I love you!
2012 has been an incredible year for our family! God has blessed us and we pray He has done the same for you and yours! One thing I learned this year…Don’t be afraid! Most of you know I like to control things in my life. A couple of months back, I felt the Lord was really speaking to me about just letting go! I have! My life is the Lord’s and I will do my best to serve Him in every way I can. Once I started letting go, the flood gates opened with new opportunities to serve Him…not to mention my dear Alli Grace being saved!
I am grateful to all the people in my family’s life who serve, ministry with and to us! I pray we continue our journey together and expand His Kingdom more than ever!
2013 is going to be crazy…crazy for Christ Jesus! Are you holding back? Scared you will get over-extended…just let go! He will give you the energy and strength to do His Will!
Wow! It has been too long! Not that anyone cares…but I miss writing and sharing! Well, our family adventures have continued over the last 2 years with nothing less than your typically family fun!
We had a great time this week with Halloween Bash at The Edge ministry with over 800 kids! I volunteered to man the grill this year and we had a ball grilling around 50 lbs of hot dogs for all the spooks! Thursday night we went over to Prescott South for the AR Tailgate and had a great time with all the kidos!
Chase is now 13 yrs old and in 8th grade…wow where has the time gone! He is a FCA officer and is active in ELEV8 (middle school ministry). We are so proud of the young man he has became. He began taking guitar lessons this year and has really done great with it. He has played a couple of times for our family devo and we loved it.
Alli is now 8 yrs old and in 2nd grade and loving it! She has made some great friends and many of them live in our neighborhood! Alli likes to read and is a good little reader.
Leslie is in her 3rd year at Prescott South Elementary as a Kindergarten Teacher. She loves this school and is working her tail off this year! Since PSES got the Stem grant she has been working really hard. She has a great team of ladies she is working with!
Leslie and I decided this year to help with our college ministry group (PoGro) on Sunday nights. We wanted to find a place we could serve together and this working out great! We adopted a college student last year, Ms. Sarah Nix, and really enjoy getting to spend time with her and getting to know her.
As for me, well, life is crazy. A few weeks back I felt like I was being overwhelmed by opportunities to serve God. It sounds weird, but I was a little freaked out by everything I could be involved in. Most of you know, if I am going to do something, I am going to do something to the best of my abilities. The thought of serving God half way, not appealing to me. As I begin to pray about each opportunity I felt even more lead to do each one. God finally got my attention one night at PoGro while we were worshiping Him….the words Do Not Be Afraid hit me like a mac truck. I was so worried about limiting myself to a few areas and God was pushing me to see, I can do them all and all to the best of my abilities. Huh, this was never an option in my mind…it seemed like too much for me…but not when you add God in the mix.
So, it is On Like Donkey Kong! All the opportunities are now being per sued. You will begin to hear about them here as things happen. I am excited about what My God can do….with me and my family!
And one last note…Chase, Michelle (Tim’s wife) and I entered The Grove 1st Annual Chili Cook-Off and WON! We had a ball cooking together! Maybe we will post our recipe…LOL!
This post is for all our FPU families! Here are some pics of our family chore charts and family calendar I spoke about this week!
I think we found all of these at Target over the past couple of years. The are perfect for keeping it simple! We plan our month of activities this way we know what we need to budget for. And the kids have their commission charts for chores they get paid for and their family chores.
Leslie ran across some chore chart ideas tonight:
Chase we are very proud of you!
Where did the year go? It has been a while since I posted a family update. I am sorry for this, but I made myself a promise when I first started this blog. If I did not have something meaningful or fun to share… I would not post for the sake of posting!
We have had a pretty busy year! Our family has had a great year! We took some time over fall break to do our annual Virginia Creep Trail bike ride with Leslie’s dad, Steve. We all had a great time and the fall colors were incredible! We really took our time this year and enjoy the ride and scenery. Check out some of our pictures here.
Alli is in her last year in Noah’s Ark day care. She is in the Elephant room this year with Mrs. Nancy (Chase’s teacher from the Ark) and she loves it! She is such a great little girl with a very funny personality. She is learning about all kinds of things…space and Pluto, being a good citizen and Spanish!
Chase is now 9 and more fun than ever. This year he has a pretty tough teacher but he is working hard and getting really good grades! He must of got it from Leslie! Chase recently purchased some Heelys (shoes with wheels in them!) So lately…he is just a blur as he goes flying by! He has spent plenty of time in the garage (since it has been cold) practicing riding on his new shoes.
Leslie is enjoying her “snow days” or as we like to call them…heavy frost days! She has slowed down on taking pictures and is getting to enjoy some down time. She is now keeping me busy with finishing our home remodeling project…you know the one we started 2 years ago! Right now we are just getting some family pictures hung up and getting ready to start painting the living room and that dreaded kitchen!!! She is excited and so I am (to get it over with!) We are planning to tackle the kitchen over spring break this year.
And as for me…I am just working hard and trying to learn how to be a better manager. Yep, I now have 2 programmers under me with multiple projects and I have to fight the need to do the work myself the let others do it. I continue to learn more and more about Microsoft SQL. We have a great team at Tire Company Solutions and we continue to blessed with great opportunities.
The past year I have pulled a lot of “irons” out of the fire. I am now teaching only one Sunday a month at Poplar Grove Baptist Church. All of my church committee responsibilities expired this year. I still help manage the church network and phone systems. I continue to do family finance counseling which I really enjoy. Financial Peace has been such a large part of our lives over the years, I love to share the tools and methods Dave Ramsey teaches!
As for this website and what is to come… Well, I not totally sure, but I would like to add some new sections…how about a food / recipe section! As many of your know, I love to cook! And I enjoy all kinds of food. So you may see some different topics this year! Leave and comment and let us know what you think!
We hope 2009 has many great adventures and blessing for your families! We are looking forward to see where God takes us this year as a family! May God bless you all!
